About Me

Hello! Thank you for checking out my blog! :D

My name is Beth, and I recently graduated from a small American university with a Bachelor of Arts in integrated media and a minor in environmental science with a concentration in geology. In addition to my love for all things environmental, I have an absolute love for all things vintage! I go antique shopping with all the time and money I can spare and of course, I love finding bargains! There isn't really a single event in my life that inspired my love for vintage things; it's actually due to a culmination of influences throughout my childhood.

Music

I grew up listening to the oldies courtesy of my mother and was then exposed to classic rock music courtesy of my father. While other kids my age were listening to all the pop hits, I remember jamming out to a Blondie cassette on my Sony walkman.

Also in my younger years, I went on a school field trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. This wasn't a typical museum exploration trip, no siree. We had to watch a three-hour long film on the history of rock & roll and while my classmates dreaded this time and merely wanted to eat at the museum cafe, I become engrossed in the film and fell in love with that vintage sound. I love way too many artists to pick a favorite, but I certainly love anything from the sixties!

Movies & TV

When I was in high school, I saw the movie Hairspray in theaters and fell head-over-heels for vintage fashion. The dresses, the hair, the makeupI loved it all! From that point on, it became a goal of mine to one day have a wardrobe comprised entirely of twirly retro-style dresses. I just adore how vintage fashion is cute, classy, playful and at times, fabulously quirky.

It was also during high school that I discovered the show That Girl, an American TV sitcom from the sixties featuring actress Marlo Thomas as Ann Marie, a scatterbrained but resourceful aspiring actress living in New York City. I constantly refer to this show as the original New Girl, you know, Fox's hit show about a quirky yet kind-hearted woman trying to make it through life? Which leads me to...

Celebrities

I love love love love Zooey Deschanel. If I could have any one celebrity as a best friend, it would be her. Seriously, we're soul sisters. The first time I became aware of her was when I watched the film 500 Days of Summer. Even though she was playing a character, her unique vintage style captivated my attention and from then on, I was obsessed! I began listening to her albums as part of the American indie duo She & Him and watched every movie, TV show, interview, and TV appearance featuring the singer-actress.

I also have a complete adoration for Audrey Hepburn. If you were to ask me what my favorite romantic comedy is, I will tell you in a heartbeat Roman Holiday, Audrey's first major acting role. I will also tell you that without a doubt, my favorite movie kiss of all time is the one at the end of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Some of my other favorite movies featuring Hepburn are My Fair Lady and Wait Until Dark, though I still have many more of her movies to watch! I greatly admire Audrey's charm, beauty, sophistication, character, and elegance. I even dressed up as her for Halloween one year!

ModCloth

Lastly, I am 100 percent obsessed with the online vintage-esque clothing retailer ModCloth. One of my dearest friends introduced me to ModCloth during college and now it is hands-down my favorite company. One of my dreams is to be a ModCloth model so if there's any way you could help me accomplish this, please let me know!
